PROFILE:

A degree-granting acting school with locations in each of the two most dynamic centers of theatre and film in the U.S. The Academy offers the aspiring actor a fertile ground for professional and personal growth. The two campuses comprise one school, sharing the same philosophy, objectives and programs. The Academy alumni list is an impressive one, with prominent names from all aspects of the entertainment industry, past and present. As a group, The Academy alumni hold a total of more than 96 Oscar®, 245 Emmy®, and 86 Tony® nominations plus 5 Kennedy Center Honorees. The numbers grow every year.

COLLEGE CAMPUS:

The Academy’s acting school in New York is right on Madison Avenue, in a landmark building designed by acclaimed architect Stanford White. The six story structure has classrooms, rehearsal halls, dance studios, dressing rooms, a prop department and production workshop, a costume department, a library and a student lounge. The Academy’s Hollywood campus is centrally located in the Los Angeles area. The campus is built on what was once the south lot of Charlie Chaplin’s studios and is near all the major television and fi lm studios.

ADMISSIONS:

Education at an acting conservatory is specialized. Serious, responsible and highly motivated applicants are sought for admission. All entering students must have received a high school diploma or have completed a GED program. A grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 is expected. Admission to the Academy is selective. Each candidate is evaluated individually based on dramatic ability or potential, academic qualifications and readiness in terms of maturity and motivation to benefit from the program.

FINANCIAL AID:

Over ninety percent of The Academy’s admitted students receive some type of financial assistance. In addition to funding provided directly by The Academy, they participate in various federal and state financial aid programs and offer a choice of payment plans. All prospective domestic students are encouraged to apply for financial aid at the time of audition. Financial aid packages consist of a combination of grants, loans, scholarships and campus employment. It is to the student’s advantage to submit early applications.

COLLEGE CAMPUS:

The Palmdale Center was established to better serve the residents of the South Antelope Valley. The center provides students with access to key support services including academic tutoring and counseling, financial aid, computer lab, Office for Students With Disabilities (OSD) program, and library services. Classes are available throughout the year at AVC’s Palmdale Center, conveniently located on the third floor of 1529 E. Palmdale Blvd. at 15th Street East, Palmdale.

The Enrollment Services (Admissions & Records, Graduation and Transcript Departments) mission is to serve as a continuous resource for students throughout their academic experience. Enrollment Services serves as a resource for admissions, registration transactions, academic records and grades, athletic intercollegiate eligibility, petitions, evaluation of transcripts for the purpose of awarding degrees and certificates, enrollment verifications, and the production of a timely and accurate transcript. The purpose of the financial aid program is to provide financial assistance to students who, without such aid, would be unable to attend Antelope Valley College. Barstow Community College is located off Interstate 15 in the Mojave region of San Bernardino County, California, approximately 120 miles from both Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The college district encompasses a vast area from the Nevada border on the east to Kern County on the west, and from Inyo County in the north to the San Bernardino Mountains. The college serves the communities of Barstow, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, Daggett, Yermo, Hinkley, Ludlow, and Baker.

Butte College has been ranked 25th in the nation on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Top 30 On-site Generation of the largest green power users. Butte College is using more than 7 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually, which is enough green power to meet 90 percent of the organization’s electricity use. Butte College is generating green power from an on-site solar energy system. This demonstrates a proactive choice to switch away from traditional sources of electricity generation and support cleaner renewable energy alternatives.

COLLEGE CAMPUS:

Butte College, located in Oroville, CA, is a nationally accredited community college offering associate’s degrees and certificate programs to 13,000 each semester.

ADMISSIONS:

Most students who have previously attended Butte College do not need to submit another application. If you are unsure of your status please contact us at 530.895.2511 prior to submitting an application. K-12 students who were concurrently enrolled at Butte College and have recently graduated from high school will need to submit an additional application in order to update their graduation status. FINANCIAL AID:

The Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGFW) waives your Enrollment Fees ($46 per unit). The BOGFW does not waive the Student Health Fee, Student Activity Fee, or any Lab/Materials Fees. You must pay allfees by the established deadline to avoid being dropped from all your classes.An outstanding debt for upaid fees will prevent enrollment.
